Wikileaks U.S. Problem, Not Indonesia

Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said, about the leaking of documents relating to Indonesia, which allegedly originated from the United States Embassy in Jakarta is the problem the U.S. government, not Indonesia.

The leaked documents are posted on the site Wikileaks. "In essence, this American problem," Foreign Minister told reporters at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Friday (03/12/2010).

It said Foreign Minister, Indonesia continues to monitor and follow closely developments about the leaking of these documents.

The leaked documents reportedly include sensitive issues like the case of East Timor (now Timor Leste).

When it is asked, Marty reluctant to say. "I have to say, certainly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would not comment directly on the leaking of these documents," he said.

Added Marty, the practice of gathering information is a natural thing. The embassy and the Indonesian representative offices abroad do the same.

"Kemenlu too and our representatives abroad are also collected on the information, data, and analysis. That's all we do in accordance with the rules and norms prevailing diplomacy," he said.
