A new site search engine called Blekko, try to bring something different in the realm of search. What advantages than any other internet search engine?
Blekko claimed to provide better search results from quality sites, and can reduce spam. Search engine technology is said to be based on a simple tool called slashtag.
Reported by PC World and quoted on Wednesday (02/11/2010), slashtag is a series of websites organized around specific topics. Slashtag covers general topics and specific topics.
Well, slashtag was added to the keyword search and will restrict search results to display a specific topic. Blekko is still in beta it also automatically adds slashtag to improve search results in seven categories include health initial search, campus, automotive, personal finance, song lyrics, recipes and a list of hotels.
For example, if users do a search with the keywords 'medication headache', Blekko will show results only from the leading site in the health category. Blekko plans to expand the 'auto-slashing' to improve search results in more categories.
"This is the first step to reduce spam from search results and displaying the most relevant. As the continued increase in the number of URLs and websites, will be inconvenient if internet users have to separate the trusted content of spam," said Blekko CEO, Rich Skrenta.
Blekko actually made its debut in beta in July 2010. To date, there has claimed more than 8,000 users who use it. During this beta period, its users have created more than 3,000 slashtag.
